Sunday, February 16, 2025 – Wide awake at 6am—put on some quiet music and took some time to relax, stretch and breathe.
Had a little bite to eat and went out for a walk. Wandered down to the waterfront and walked along Quay Street for awhile, then turned inland and started climbing.

The hill to Albert Park was pretty steep, so I challenged myself and made it to the top of the hill to Albert Park without stopping! The first thing I did at the top was to find a bench, sit down and catch my breath. Still recovering from Covid I had last week…
I got turned around trying to find a garden I really wanted to see and ended up going in a big circle. I’m sure it had something to do with lack of oxygen LOL. So I had to climb that big damn hill one more time and still didn’t make it to the garden. I simply turned my butt around and went down the hill. Thinking Uber for my next attempt to see that garden—not going up that effing hill again unless I’m in a car.

I continued walking down hill toward the hotel through winding streets with cute shops and interesting alleys. It’s fun to wander without an agenda or time constraints. Sat on a bench for a bit people watching on Queen Street, close to my hotel and one of the main streets in Auckland City Centre. Lots of kids on bikes and skateboards, families walking together, people performing on the sidewalks, etc. — all in all it was a great afternoon. My friendship with Auckland is blossoming

Fern and Larry arrived this afternoon. After they took a little nap, we went for a walk and had a bite to eat. Back to our rooms early as they are still catching up on sleep!
Tomorrow we’re taking a 45-minute ferry ride to Waiheke Island where we will do some sightseeing and exploring.
