Wednesday, February 27, 2019 – I have arrived, after an arduous journey, at El Calafete, Argentina… Patagonia, for the first phase of my adventure!

Not a very good photo through the plane window flying in. The water is a beautiful blue glacial color and backed by snow-covered peaks. I’m headed to Torres del Paine in Chile tomorrow, so stay tuned for some spectacular photos (I hope) — weather permitting, of course. Returning to Calafate late evening.
No UBER here so the primary mode of transportation around town is hoofing it. Later found out that taxis are an integral part of getting around Calafate.Β They are safe and reasonably priced!Β Town is sort of an eclectic blend of ramshacklish homes, hostels, tourist stores and hotels. My hotel seems to be constructed and decorated predominantly with recycled / pseudo antique materials. The room is small, but the bed is a dream.

Best of all, Rebelde means Rebel… I have found my own personal heaven π€£
Dinner tonight was about a half-mile walk downhill from the hotel at La Tablita. It’s a carnivore’s dream, and charming without being over the top. The ribeye was perfectly done and was still sizzling from the fire when it was served.
With it, I truly enjoyed an Argentinian Malbec. Everything is tasting amazing after almost 3 days of airline, airport and hotel food! I’m just not looking forward to the half mile walk UP the hill after dinner and wine π· π·
PS the walk up the hill was invigorating and the sky was beautiful
